3630 pages of files copied from FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., covering how the FBI related to Supreme Court. Files cover from 1932 to 1985, containing approximately 1,200 narrative pages. The file contains correspondence between J. Edgar Hoover and Supreme Court Marshals regarding security issues at the Supreme Court, and requests for background investigations on Supreme Court employees. Files contains memos generated by investigations of threats made against the court and justices. The file also contains information concerning cases heard before the Supreme Court that were of specific interest to the FBI. Files contains the bureau's listing of members of Congress who were critical 1950's Supreme Court decisions, which the bureau saw as diminishing the FBI's investigatory powers. Files contain letters from members of the public and Congress maintained by the bureau, reflecting the vein of the opposition to 1950's Supreme Court decisions. |
